People come into your life for a reason ...

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person..

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a needyou have expressed.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support,

To aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.

They may seem like a godsend and they are.

They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.

Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.

The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.

They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.

They may teach you something you have never done.

They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.

Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.

Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

GUARDIAN ANGEL...
Angels exist, only sometimes they haven't got wings and we call them friends; you are one of them.

... four things...

"There are four things that you cannot recover in life:

(1) The Stone..........after it's thrown,
(2) The Word..............after it's said,
(3) The Occasion......after it's missed, and
(4) The Time............after it's gone.."

Sugarland, These Are The Days Lyrics

Sugarland, These Are The Days Lyrics

It's written on our palms and

It's written on our hearts

It's written in our songs and

It's written in the stars

Sometimes all we can do

Is stand up tall

When they're standing in line

Just to watch us fall

Chorus:

Whoa

We can't forget, these are the days

Whoa, don't be afraid

We can't forget, these are the days

Well, we got each other and that's all we need

From here on out it's just you and me

Two hometown hearts up against the world

That don't stand a chance against this boy and girl

We faced 'em down, fought bigger fights

And I know babe we're gonna be alright

repeat chorus

Well, it feels like we're living from pay check to check

And we wake up wondering what might happen next

Yeah, someitmes it feels like we won't make it through

But the hard times pass

Like the good ones do

Baby wrap your fingers and

Hold on tight

I'll be right here beside you tonight

Baby climb up here

Watch the city glow

Let's make a wish on the fireworks below

We're making moments that we won't forget

And feeling ones that haven't happened yet

repeat chorus

Whoa

Don't be afraid

We can't forget these are the days

OLD BLUE CHAIR LYRICS ---KENNEY CHESNEY

Old Blue Chair lyrics

There's a blue rocking chair

Sittin in the sand

Weathered by the storms and well oiled hands

It sways back and forth with the help of the winds,

Seems to always be there, like an old trusted friend

I've read a lot of books,

Wrote a few songs

Looked at my life where it's goin, where it's gone

I've seen the world through a bus windshield, but nothing compares

To the way that I see it,

to the way that I see it,

to the way that I see it when I sit in that old blue chair

From that chair I've caught a few fish and some rays

And I've watched boats sail in and out of cinnamon bay

I let go of a lover that took a piece of my heart

I prayed many times for forgiveness and a brand new start

I've read a lot of books,

Wrote a few songs

Looked at my life where it's goin, where it's gone

I've seen the world through a bus windeshield, but nothing compares

To the way that I see it, to the way that I see it,

to the way that I see it when I sit in

that old blue chair

That chair was my bed one New Year's Night

When i passed out from too much cruising and

And woke up to a hundred mesquito bites,

I swear got 'em all sittin right there

In that old blue chair

There's a blue rockin chair

Sittin' in the sand

Weathered by the storms and well oiled hands

Reasons Not To Mess With Children

Reasons Not To Mess With Children

A little girlwas talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small. The little girl
stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible. The little girl said, 'When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah'. The teacher
asked, 'What if Jonah went to hell?' The little girl replied, 'Then you ask him'.

A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work. As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, 'I'm drawing God.' The teacher paused and said, 'But no one knows what God looks like.' Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, 'They will in a minute.'

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds. After explaining the commandment to'honor' thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, 'Is there a commandment that
teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?' Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, 'Thou shall not kill.'

One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several  strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head. She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, 'Why are some of your hairs white, Mum?' Her mother replied,
'Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white..'
The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, 'Mummy, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?'

The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture. 'Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say,'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.'A small voice at the back of the room rang out, 'And there's the teacher, she's dead.'
A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, 'Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face.' 'Yes,' the class said. 'Then why is it thatwhile I am standing upright
in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?' A little fellow shouted, 'Cause your feet ain't empty.'

The children were lined up in the cafeteriaof a Catholic elementary  school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on theapple tray: 'Take only ONE . God is watching.' Moving further along the lunch line,at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child had written a note,  'Take all you want.  God is watching the apples.'

Try...

Photobucket
You maybe disappointed if you fail but you are doomed if you don't try

Helen Keller

Helen Keller Quotes . . .

All the world is full of suffering. It is also full of overcoming.

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.

Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.

As selfishness and complaint pervert the mind, so love with its joy clears and sharpens the vision.

As the eagle was killed by the arrow winged with his own feather, so the hand of the world is wounded by its own skill.

Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. The fearful are caught as often as the bold.

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.

College isn't the place to go for ideas.

Death is no more than passing from one room into another. But there's a difference for me, you know. Because in that other room I shall be able to see.

Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content.

Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light.

I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.

I can see, and that is why I can be happy, in what you call the dark, but which to me is golden. I can see a God-made world, not a manmade world.

I do not want the peace which passeth understanding, I want the understanding which bringeth peace.

I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble.

I seldom think about my limitations, and they never make me sad. Perhaps there is just a touch of yearning at times; but it is vague, like a breeze among flowers.

Instead of comparing our lot with that of those who are more fortunate than we are, we should compare it with the lot of the great majority of our fellow men. It then appears that we are among the privileged.

It is a terrible thing to see and have no vision.

It is for us to pray not for tasks equal to our powers, but for powers equal to our tasks, to go forward with a great desire forever beating at the door of our hearts as we travel toward our distant goal.

It is hard to interest those who have everything in those who have nothing.

It is not possible for civilization to flow backwards while there is youth in the world. Youth may be headstrong, but it will advance it allotted length.

It is wonderful how much time good people spend fighting the devil. If they would only expend the same amount of energy loving their fellow men, the devil would die in his own tracks of ennui.

It's wonderful to climb the liquid mountains of the sky. Behind me and before me is God and I have no fears.

Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow.

Knowledge is love and light and vision.

Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood.

Life is an exciting business, and most exciting when it is lived for others.

Life is either a great adventure or nothing.

Literature is my Utopia. Here I am not disenfranchised. No barrier of the senses shuts me out from the sweet, gracious discourses of my book friends. They talk to me without embarrassment or awkwardness.

Love is like a beautiful flower which I may not touch, but whose fragrance makes the garden a place of delight just the same.

Many people know so little about what is beyond their short range of experience. They look within themselves - and find nothing! Therefore they conclude that there is nothing outside themselves either.

Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.

My share of the work may be limited, but the fact that it is work makes it precious.

Never bend your head. Always hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye.

No matter how dull, or how mean, or how wise a man is, he feels that happiness is his indisputable right.

No one has a right to consume happiness without producing it.

No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit.

Of all the senses, sight must be the most delightful.

Once I knew only darkness and stillness... my life was without past or future... but a little word from the fingers of another fell into my hand that clutched at emptiness, and my heart leaped to the rapture of living.

One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar.
Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.

People do not like to think. If one thinks, one must reach conclusions. Conclusions are not always pleasant.

Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all - the apathy of human beings.

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

Self-pity is our worst enemy and if we yield to it, we can never do anything wise in this world.

Smell is a potent wizard that transports you across thousands of miles and all the years you have lived.

So long as the memory of certain beloved friends lives in my heart, I shall say that life is good.

Strike against war, for without you no battles can be fought!

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.

The heresy of one age becomes the orthodoxy of the next.

The highest result of education is tolerance.

The marvelous richness of human experience would lose something of rewarding joy if there were no limitations to overcome. The hilltop hour would not be half so wonderful if there were no dark valleys to traverse.

The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart.

The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight, but has no vision.

The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.

The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of tiny pushes of each honest worker.

There is no king who has not had a slave among his ancestors, and no slave who has not had a king among his.

To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug.

Toleration is the greatest gift of the mind; it requires the same effort of the brain that it takes to balance oneself on a bicycle.

True happiness... is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.

Unless we form the habit of going to the Bible in bright moments as well as in trouble, we cannot fully respond to its consolations because we lack equilibrium between light and darkness.

Until the great mass of the people shall be filled with the sense of responsibility for each other's welfare, social justice can never be attained.

Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light.

We can do anything we want to if we stick to it long enough.

We could never learn to be brave and patient, if there were only joy in the world.

We may have found a cure for most evils; but we have found no remedy for the worst of them all, the apathy of human beings.

What a blind person needs is not a teacher but another self.

What I am looking for is not out there, it is in me.

What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.

When we do the best that we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life, or in the life of another.

While they were saying among themselves it cannot be done, it was done.

Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties.

STAY YOUNG

Stay Young

We all need to read this one over and over until it becomes part of who we are !

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Try everything twice.
On one woman's tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph:
"Tried everything twice.loved it both times!"

2. Keep only cheerful , positive friends.
The grouches pull you down.
(Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning:
Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever.
Never let the brain get idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop..'
And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud.
Laugh until you gasp for breath.
And if you have a friend who makes you laugh,
Spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

6.. The tears happen:
Endure, grieve, and move on.
The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.
LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love:
Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.
Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health:
If it is good, preserve it.
If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips.
Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county,
to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
I love you, my special friend.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second chance. And if you don't send this to at least 4 people - who cares?
But do share this with someone.

Remember! Lost time can never be found.Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Special Friend

Sometimes in life, you find a special friend; Someone who changes your life just by being part of it Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop; Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world. Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it. This is Forever Friendship.

"The Push", is a wonderful short story written by my co-author David McNally. The story inspired this book, (Even Eagles Need a Push) and the movie you're about to watch. It has only 182 words, but it captures the essence of encouragement in a way you'll never forget.

So sit back, turn up your speakers, and watch a beautiful 3 minute movie that will make your heart smile.

ME AND YOU Lyrics - KENNY CHESNEY

ME AND YOU Lyrics - KENNY CHESNEY:

"Me And You lyrics

Written by: Skip Ewing & Ray Herndon

Ordinary? No! I really don't think so,

Not a love this true.

Common destiny, we were meant to be, me and you.

Like a perfect scene from a movie screen,

We're a dream come true.

Suited perfectly, for eternity, me and you.

CHORUS:

Everyday, well I need you even more,

And the nighttime too.

There's no way, I could ever let you go.

Even if I wanted to.

Everyday I live, (I) try my best to give,

All I have to you.

Thank the stars above, that we share this love,

me and you

CHORUS

Ordinary? No! I really don't think so,

Just a precious few.

Ever make it last, are as lucky as

me and you."

To A Child Is Spelled Time... By Mac Anderson and Lance Wubbels

To A Child LOVE Is Spelled Time . . . By Mac Anderson and Lance Wubbels
www.simpletruths.com

In the faint light of the attic, an old man, tall and stooped, bent his great frame and made his way to a stack of boxes that sat near one of the little half-windows. Brushing aside a wisp of cobwebs, he tilted the top box toward the light and began to carefully lift out one old photograph album after another. Eyes once bright but now dim searched longingly for the source that had drawn him here.
It began with the fond recollection of the love of his life, long gone, and somewhere in these albums was a photo of her he hoped to rediscover. Silent as a mouse, he patiently opened the long buried treasures and soon was lost in a sea of memories. Although his world had not stopped spinning when his wife left it, the past was more alive in his heart than his present aloneness..
Setting aside one of the dusty albums, he pulled from the box what appeared to be a journal from his grown son's childhood. He could not recall ever having seen it before, or that his son had ever kept a journal. Why did Elizabeth always save the children's old junk? he wondered, shaking his white head.
Opening the yellowed pages, he glanced over a short reading, and his lips curved in an unconscious smile. Even his eyes brightened as he read the words that spoke clear and sweet to his soul. It was the voice of the little boy who had grown up far too fast in this very house, and whose voice had grown fainter and fainter over the years. In the utter silence of the attic, the words of a guileless six-year-old worked their magic and carried the old man back to a time almost totally forgotten.
Entry after entry stirred a sentimental hunger in his heart like the longing a gardener feels in the winter for the fragrance of spring flowers. But it was accompanied by the painful memory that his son's simple recollections of those days were far different from his own. But how different?
Reminded that he had kept a daily journal of his business activities over the years, he closed his son's journal and turned to leave, having forgotten the cherished photo that originally triggered his search. Hunched over to keep from bumping his head on the rafters, the old man stepped to the wooden stairway and made his descent, then headed down a carpeted stairway that led to the den.
Opening a glass cabinet door, he reached in and pulled out an old business journal. Turning, he sat down at his desk and placed the two journals beside each other. His was leather-bound and engraved neatly with his name in gold, while his son's was tattered and the name Jimmy had been nearly scuffed from its surface. He ran a long skinny finger over the letters, as though he could restore what had been worn away with time and use.
As he opened his journal, the old man's eyes fell upon an inscription that stood out because it was so brief in comparison to other days. In his own neat handwriting were these words:
Wasted the whole day fishing with Jimmy. Didn't catch a thing.
With a deep sigh and a shaking hand, he took Jimmy's journal and found the boy's entry for the same day, June 4. Large scrawling letters, pressed deeply into the paper, read:
Went fishing with my Dad. Best day of my life.
The story you just read is the introduction for To A Child Love is Spelled T-I-M-E. It was written by my co-author Lance Wubbles

Bon Jovi It's My Life lyrics

It's My Life lyrics
This ain't a song for the brokenhearted
No silent prayer for the faith departed
And I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd
You're gonna hear my voice when I shout it out loud
It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way"
I just wanna live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life
This is for the ones who stood their ground
For Tommy and Gina who never backed down
Tomorrow's getting harder, make no mistake
Luck ain't even lucky, gotta make your own breaks
It's my life
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way"
I just wanna live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life
You better stand tall
When they're calling you out
Don't bend, don't break
Baby, don't back down
It's my life
It's now or never
'Cause I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way"
I just wanna live while I'm alive(It's my life)
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way"
I just wanna live while I'm alive'Cause it's my life!

God's 26 Guards

God's 26 Guards
Here's a message that will bring you chills.

Have you ever felt the urge to pray for someone and Then just put it on a list and said, 'I'll pray

for them later'? Or has anyone ever called you and said, 'I need you to pray for me, I have this

need?' Read the following story that was sent to me and May it change the way that you may

think about prayer and also the way you pray. You will be blessed by this.... A missionary on

furlough told this true story while Visiting his home church in Michigan . 'While serving at a

small field hospital in Africa , Every two weeks I traveled by bicycle Through the jungle to a

nearby city for supplies.. This was a journey of two days and Required camping overnight at the

halfway point. On one of these journeys, I arrived in the city Where I planned to collect money

from a bank, Purchase medicine, and supplies, and then begin My two-day journey back to the

field hospital. Upon arrival in the city, I observed two men fighting, One of whom had been

seriously injured. I treated him for his injuries and at the same time Talked to him about the

Lord. I then traveled two days, camping overnight, and Arrived home without incident.... Two

weeks later I repeated my journey Upon arriving in the city, I was approached by the young

man I had treated. He told me that he had known I carried Money and medicines. He said,

'Some friends and I followed you in to the jungle, Knowing you would camp overnight. We

planned to kill you and take your money and drugs.. But just as we were about to move into your

camp, We saw that you were surrounded by 26 armed guards. At this, I laughed and said that I

was Certainly all alone in that jungle campsite.. The young man pressed the point, however, and

said, 'No, sir, I was not the only person to see the guards, My friends also saw them, and we all

counted them. It was because of those guards that We were afraid and left you alone.' At this

point in the sermon, One of the men in the congregation jumped to his feet and interrupted the

missionary and asked if he could tell him the exact day this happened.. The missionary told the

congregation the date, and The man who interrupted told him this story: 'On the night of your

incident in Africa , It was morning here and I was preparing to go play golf. I was about to putt

when I felt the urge to pray for you. In fact, the urging of the Lord was so strong, I called men in

this church to meet with me here In the sanctuary to pray for you. Would all of those men who

met with me on that day stand up?' The men who had met together to pray that day stood up.

The missionary wasn't concerned with whom they were, He was too busy counting how many

men he saw. There were 26. This story is an incredible example of how the Spirit of the Lord

moves in behalf of those who love Him. If you ever feel such prodding to pray, go along with it,

you don't know what it can mean to that person.. Nothing is ever hurt by prayer except the

gates of hell. I encourage you to forward this to as many people as you know. If we all take it to

heart, We can turn this world toward God once again. As the above true story clearly illustrates,

'With God all things are possible'. More importantly, how God hears and Answers the prayers of

the faithful. After you read this, please pass it on and Give God thanks for the beautiful gift of

your faith, For the powerful gift of prayer, and for the many miracles He works in your own daily

life... And then pass it on. Who says God does not move on the earth today? I asked the Lord to

bless you as I prayed for you today. To guide you and protect you as you go along your way. His

love is always with you, His promises are true, and when we give Him our cares you know He

will see us through. So when the road you're traveling on seems difficult at best, Just remember

I'm here praying, and God will do the rest. Pass this on to those whom you want God to bless I

Can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

These are the days --- Sugarland

Artist: SugarlandSong: These Are The DaysAlbum: Enjoy The Ride

It's written on our palms and
It's written on our hearts
It's written in our songs and
It's written in the starsSometimes all we can do
Is stand up tall
When they're standing in line
Just to watch us fall
Chorus:
Whoa
We can't forget, these are the days
Whoa, don't be afraid
We can't forget, these are the days
Well, we got each other and that's all we need
From here on out it's just you and me
Two hometown hearts up against the world
That don't stand a chance against this boy and girl
We faced 'em down, fought bigger fights
And I know babe we're gonna be alright
repeat chorus
Well, it feels like we're living from pay check to check
And we wake up wondering what might happen next
Yeah, someitmes it feels like we won't make it through
But the hard times pass
Like the good ones do
Baby wrap your fingers and Hold on tight
I'll be right here beside you tonight
Baby climb up here
Watch the city glow
Let's make a wish on the fireworks below
We're making moments that we won't forget
And feeling ones that haven't happened yet
repeat chorus
Whoa
Don't be afraid
We can't forget these are the days

"Standing Outside the Fire" lyrics

"Standing Outside the Fire" lyrics
"In pieces" by Garth Brooks
We call them cool
Those hearts that have no scars to show
The ones that never do let go
And risk it the tables being turned

We call them fools
Who have to dance within the flame
Who chance the sorrow and the shame
That always come with getting burned

But you got to be tough when consumed by desire
'Cause it's not enough just to stand outside the fire
We call them strong
Those who can face this world alone
Who seem to get by on their own
Those who will never take the fall

We call them weak
Who are unable to resist
The slightest chance love might exist
And for that forsake it all

They're so hell bent on giving, walking a wire
Convinced it's not living if you stand outside the fire

[chorus:]
Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried is merely surived
If you're standing outside the fire

There's this love that is burning
Deep in my soul
Constantly yearning to get out of control
Wanting to fly higher and higher
I can't abide Standing outside the fire
[chorus x2]

Make Today Matter

Simple Truths
Make Today Matter!
Posted: 03 Aug 2009 06:00 AM PDT
Oral Lee Brown was, for the most part an ordinary person. A former cotton picker from Mississippi and current real estate agent in Northern California, she made $45,000 and raised two children on her own.
What made this woman extraordinary was what she chose to do one day in 1987. She saw a young girl in her neighborhood begging for money. The next day, Oral went to the school the girl attended and found a first-grade class she "adopted". By "adoption", I mean that she pledged to personally pay for anyone who wanted to attend college! Brown lived up to her pledge: since that day, she has personally saved $10,000 a year and raised donations for her adopted kids.
Oral’s commitment demonstrates the good that can come from action. Lily Tomlin said it best with: "I always wondered why somebody didn’t do something about that. Then I realized I was somebody."
So, to encourage you to make a difference in others’ lives, we have a short movie for you from the book Every Monday Matters:
Throughout this week, keep checking back for more videos and messages on service. How do you plan on serving others today?

Finding joy

Life can be complicated, but happiness...is simple. Of course, we try our best to make it complicated, but if we look closely, it's really very simple. And that's what this little book is all about...Simple Secrets to a Happy Life!
My goal is to have you sit down in a quiet place, and to slowly soak up every simple page. Don't hurry, just take a deep breath, read each thought, and reflect on how it might apply to your life. Think about what is...and what could be, if your mind and heart is open to change.
But here is the real key to making this book all it can be...keep it close, and read it often. Because in a perfect world we read something once, record it in our brain, and never need to read it again.
Well, I don't know about you, but my world is far from perfect. I have doubts, fears and disappointments in my life, and I need doses of inspiration to bring me back to where I should be...to re-direct me to what’s really important in life.
And speaking of inspiration, since we released our new Finding Joy movie, over 10 million people have watched it in forty different countries.
So if you love inspirational quotes, wonderful photography and beautiful music, you'll love this 3 minute movie. It will put a smile in your heart!

No Glass Ceiling...Just Blue Sky

No Glass Ceiling...Just Blue Sky
Dear jodi,
Mary Kay Ash was loved by her people. She was the founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics, and passed away recently at 83 years old. I heard her speak about 20 years ago, adn at the end of her speech she was asked, "What is the key to success in business?" She didn't hesitate when she said, "Make your people feel important." She truly understand that recognition is a need we all crave; and that there are no exceptions.
Marcy Blochowiak understands this powerful principal as much as any leader I've ever met. And, most importantly, it comes from her heart. She has built a team of thousands by using a secret weapon: "Hire more women, and love them like family."
If you need a "shot of inspiration", just watch this beautiful 3 minute movie that shares some of Marcy's secretes to success. You'll love the music, the beautiful photographs and, the ideas will speak to your heart.
And feel free to forward it to friends and family; everyone needs a little shot of inspiration!

IT GETS BETTER --- JO DEE MESSINA

(Jo Dee Messina) I have been to that sad point in life, where all of my dreams have seemed to fade. But I realized that what really matters are the things that cannot be taken from you. I learned that we are never alone in our pain. That we have to feel it, to live through it, and to know that it does get better. I simply had to share that sentiment.

IT GETS BETTER
THIS OLD WORLD CAN BE CRUEL SOMETIMES WHEN YOU’RE LOOKING FOR ANSWERS YOU CAN’T SEEM TO FIND NOONE UNDERSTANDS WHAT YOU’RE GOING THROUGH
OH I KNOW IT CAN GET LONELY OUT THERE WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE NOBODY CARES WELL YOU LOOK AROUND THINKING IF THEY ONLY KNEW WELL I DO
CHORUS:I’VE FELT THE CHILL OF THIS WORLD CUT DOWN TO THE BONE I’VE WALKED MANY A MILE DOWN THIS ROAD ON MY OWN I’VE BEEN THROUGH HELL ON MY KNEES COME FACE TO FACE WITH THE DEVIL AND I KNOW THAT IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE BUT IT GETS BETTER
TIME IS A HEALER BUT WE CAN’T SEE HOW WHEN YOU’RE CAUGHT IN THE MOMENT AND THE HURTING IS NOW WE DON’T WANNA SEE THAT MAYBE SOMETHINGS WEREN’T MEANT TO FIGURE OUT
REPEAT CHORUS
THIS OLD WORLD CAN BE CRUEL SOMETIMES WHEN YOU’RE LOOKING FOR ANSWERS WELL JUST KEEP IN MIND NO YOU’RE NOT ALONE WE’RE ALL TRYING TO FIND OUR WAY THROUGH THIS LIFE
REPEAT CHORUS (OUT)

I'M NOT GOING DOWN --- JO DEE MESSINA

--- listen to her music at http://www.jodeemessina.com/ ---

(Shaunna Bolton/Kevin Savigar) This was one of the first songs I found for this record. It was an obvious choice. When I heard it, it not only made me want to run for miles, but it sounded like my life. It inspired me. Its message was fantastic. No matter what the circumstances, bounce back. I had to record it.
I'm Not Going Down
I WOKE UP TODAY WITH A HEADACHE MORE BILLS TO PAY THAN A CORPORATION HEY, WHEN WILL IT END MY MIRROR SAYS I COULD USE A BREAK AN EASY DAY, SOME APPRECIATION HEY HOW ‘BOUT A FRIEND WHEN DAYS LIKE THESE START TO FALL IN ON ME I GOTTA FACE MY REFLECTION AND SAY...HEY
CHORUS:BEEN BURNED BY THE FIRE BEEN STUCK UNDER WATER STRUNG UP ON A WIRE AND STILL THE WORLD GOES AROUND BEEN TOSSED LIKE A FREE THROW KNOCKED OUT WHEN THE WIND BLOWS PULL THE CURTAIN ON THE HURTIN’ ‘CAUSE I’M NOT GOING DOWN (I’M NOT GOING DOWN NO NO)
INSIDE OF ME IS THE ONLY HIGHWAY THAT LEADS TO A TRUE FREEDOM HOLDING OUT IT’S HAND I CLOSE MY EYES AND IT’S ALL RIGHT THE SUN WILL SHINE ON A NEW HORIZON JUST AROUND THE BEND DAYS LIKE THESE BRING OUT THE STRENGTH IN ME SO I CAN FACE MY REFLECTION AND SAY...
REPEAT CHORUSI STILL GET DIZZY AND FRANTIC, LONELY AND PANICED BUT NEXT TIME I WON’T LET IT BEAT ME, NO I CAN SEE CLEARLY, I KNOW WHO I AM AND THAT’S HOW I KNOW I’VE BEGUN LIVING
REPEAT CHORUS (OUT)

LIFE IS GOOD --- Jo Dee Messina

(Jo Dee Messina/Mark Selby) It took some time, but I finally realized life wasn't about stature or material things it was about living. The song has a simple message. Breathe in and breathe out. What a blessing.
LIFE IS GOOD
I USED TO THINK THAT LIFE WAS ALL ABOUT THE JONESES TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO JUST KEEP UP SOME HOW I HAD TO HAVE IT, DO IT, BE IT, HAD TO OWN IT A LITTLE SECRET THAT I FINALLY FIGURED OUT
WE SPEND SO MUCH TIME CLIMBING UP THE LADDER AND THEN WE’RE MISSING ALL THE THINGS THAT REALLY MATTER
CHORUS:I’VE GOT MY TWO FEET ON THE GROUND BREATHIN’ IN AND BREATHIN’ OUT OH YEAH LIFE IS GOOD I’M GONNA GRAB ON TO TODAY LIVE EVERY MINUTE IN THE WAY I KNOW I SHOULD LIFE IS GOOD
I LIKE TO MOVE, I LIKE TO RUN, I LIKE TO GET IT DONE OR I CAN STAY HOME ON THE COUCH AND WATCH TV GIVE ME SUNSHINE, GIVE ME RAIN, IT MAKES NO DIFFENCE TO ME IT’S ALL THE SAME, ALL THE SAME TO ME
CALL ME SIMPLE, CALL ME CRAZY I BELIEVE THAT IT’S ALL IN WHAT WE MAKE YAH
REPEAT CHORUS
CALL ME SIMPLE, CALL ME CRAZY I BELIEVE THAT IT’S ALL IN WHAT WE MAKE YAH
REPEAT CHORUS (OUT)

To celebrate growing older...

little long but worth the read..........................
Written by a 90 yr old woman from Ohio

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written."My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:
1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26.. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's,we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."

Friends are the family that we choose for ourselves.
